The mic can be clipped to clothing, close to the speaker's mouth—providing a clear, present sound that is far superior to the sound you get from the camera's built-in mic when shooting video. The mic connects to the transmitter via a 3.5mm connector. The transmitter and receiver, each run on built-in rechargeable batteries for up to 6 hours of shooting time.
The camera-mount receiver's output plugs right into the audio input on your camera or recording device using the supplied 3.5mm cables. The belt clip on the receiver features a shoemount for camera mounting; the mount has a 1/4"-20 thread underneath for stand mounting. The system offers a range of 100' and the transmitter and receiver arrive already synced to the same operating frequency and ready to operate in Intelligent mode.
The UHF frequencies the system operates on are far away from the Wi-Fi range, helping to greatly reduce interference from cell phones and other wireless devices. If interference is encountered, there are twenty UHF frequencies—organized in five groups, each with four frequencies—giving you alternative channels to choose from to find a clean channel. The noise reduction setting cuts low frequencies to reduce wind and mechanical noise.
The receiver features a headphone output, great for real-time monitoring of your mic if your camera does not have a headphone jack. A short TRS cable for camera connection, a long TRRS connection cable for use with mobile devices, two charging cables, and a carrying case are included.
